Springdale Said to be First to Market
Published: Tuesday, December 31, 2002 | By: DennisI think this will be an Intel first,
j/k.
Here is a clip.
"Typically, VIA and SiS enjoy a honeymoon period of profits before Intel launches comparable products, after which increased competition drives down prices. According to development roadmaps at Intel and downstream motherboard makers, this time Intel will preempt the competition."
Intel is getting very serious about the Springdale chipset. First they make an out of the blue announcement during Comdex and now they’re going to be first to market with it, Goodtimes for Intel. Now all they need to do is get DDR400 validated.

Mozilla Phoenix Browser Preview
Published: Tuesday, December 31, 2002 | By: DennisI've been following the development of the Phoenix browser from Mozilla and I've been quite surprised as to how far it has come. The new beta browser is built on the Mozilla engine and is designed to be very lightweight. At only 6 megs you'd think it was a version 3 browser.
Give it a shot you won't be disappointed -
Quiet News Day, Best of 2002
Published: Monday, December 30, 2002 | By: DennisIts kind of quiet today so phjear my lack of news!
Its kind of sad that everyone finds it necessary to post stuff like "The best of 2002!" and "My picks for the future!". In a way I can see why they do it, it is just annoying since just about everything on the list was released last month. So, just don't expect me to come up with one.
I have a better idea, how about you post your own "Best of 2002!" in the Ninjalane Message Forum, it will be interesting to see what you all come up with. -
Facts and Assumptions of the AMD 'Hammer'
Published: Monday, December 30, 2002 | By: DennisDigi-Life has a rather lengthily article up that sheds some light on the mysteries behind the AMD x86-64 processor architecture. They dive into processor modes and even touch on memory speeds and potential throughput. The read is very informative though I don't suspect we will know everything until the processor is released sometime next year.
"Those who don't need these new features may not use them - nothing changes for 32bit applications. Besides, you can use 32bit applications in the 64bit OS." -
pcToys DDRMaXX Heatspreaders
Published: Sunday, December 29, 2002 | By: DennisThese appear to be the same spreaders that you can get on some factory pieces of DDR.
" My gripe with this product is the presence of crappy TIM. It's best to take the extra couple minutes and remove it. Unless you want to permanently affix the heatspreaders to your ram, don't use the TIM. The temperatures won't make much of a difference." -
Inno3D Tornado Ti4200 AGP 8X Review @ BoogleTech
Published: Sunday, December 29, 2002 | By: DennisInno3D makes some pretty good middle of the road video cards that seem to overclock quite well.
"I seem to be handing out too many awards as of late. Hardware manufacturers seem to have listened to their users and changed everything that they have complained about. The only area this card has failed in is quality due to the visual distortions. I'm guessing that this is most likely a bug (albeit a fairly common one) because it definitely doesn't happen to all cards, but it does happen to a few. "
I'd say its all or nothing bud, my award. "No soup for you!" -
Pepsi boots Britney, picks Beyonce
Published: Sunday, December 29, 2002 | By: Dennis" After two years, PepsiCo Inc. has said goodbye to Britney Spears as its spokeswoman and replaced her with Beyonce Knowles of the R&B trio Destiny's Child. "
I think this is a good move on Pepsi's part, and no I'm not switching to coke. -

Kind of Slow on the News Front
Published: Thursday, December 26, 2002 | By: DennisWell its the day after Christmas and all through the house not a CPU fan was spinning not even a mouse. Actually I liked my vacation so much I decided I would take some time to get things caught up and play some new games that I got for Christmas.
I'm looking for some cool news stories to post but its been one of them typically slow news days being the day after a major US holiday. -
Holiday Time, Read a Book!
Published: Tuesday, December 24, 2002 | By: DennisI would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and to thank everyone that helped make Ninjalane what it is today.
I'm going to take the next couple of days off and spend some time with family and friends, I'd suggest that you do the same.
