The "Good" One Could Go Under
Published: Monday, April 8, 2002 | By: DennisIt looks like debt and bad business deals have caught up to Bob Guccione, so bad in fact that if not paid the trustee, the Bank of New York, could assume control of the company. They claim that the web is to blame.
"Pornographic images of every bent are now just a click away on the Web, often at no charge, and Penthouse, which once sold almost five million copies a month, now has a circulation of 650,000." -

Intel & AMD Benchmark War
Published: Thursday, April 4, 2002 | By: DennisI can remember how some hardware sites claimed that the "True Performance Initiative" rating system compared the new AMD processor to the Pentium 4 at similar clock speed, i.e. an Athlon XP1700+ was faster than an Intel P4 1.7GHz, for the most part this was true despite the Athlon processor only running at 1.47GHz. I guess everyone stopped reading after the intro since this isn't quite the case. Here is a snip: "Athlon XP chips come with a model number that indicates their performance relative to older Athlon chips, so that the Athlon XP 2000+ (at 1.67GHz) would offer roughly the same performance as an earlier Athlon clocking 2,000MHz (2GHz)."

Published: Wednesday, April 3, 2002 | By: DennisAccording to DigiTimes nVidia will be adding DDR support to the GF4MX line of video chips, this is some pretty good news for people on a budget. We can only hope they will include a full DDR memory bus similar to the GeForce2 and GeForce3 Ti chips.
