Published: Monday, December 17, 2001 | By: DennisI am sure you have seen the commercial for "Guinness in a Bottle" where it starts off showing this spaceship looking thing that starts foaming prompting a quick pan back to show a beer bottle and a mild outdoor party. Well, Wired news takes a look at how it works.

Intel Loses Another
Published: Monday, December 17, 2001 | By: DennisIntel has lost another legal battle over patent infringement. This time the 82Mil case is lost to Broadcom. In this instance I would recommend that you read two reports on the issue to get the full story. The first story is below with the second being at latimes.com

SY-P4S Dragon Ultra Based on Sis 645
Published: Sunday, December 16, 2001 | By: DennisDDR RAID Audio Graphic (AGP) Overclocking Network USB 2.0. We have heard this acronym over and over in reference to the badass black Athlon motherboard from Soyo. Well they have extended the legacy to include the latest DDR333 chipset from Sis. Though the fun doesn't stop there Soyo also added a "U" which stands for USB 2.0, w00t! Now all we need is some devices that support it.

OCH LCD MicroView Review @ 2FastCPU
Published: Sunday, December 16, 2001 | By: DennisBack in my car audio days these sorts of things cost a ton of cash. It would appear now that they have come down in price and would make a nice addition to just about any server or workstation.

To Many Patches for IE
Published: Sunday, December 16, 2001 | By: DennisHere is a little humor that was sent to me in relation to Microsoft Patches.
"other patches can be found here:
www.netscape.com
www.opera.com
and others. However, they may not completely protect you, unless you also apply the patch from www.kernel.org or redhat.com."
Personally I would recommend www.slackware.com over Red Hat any day. -
IE Security Update
Published: Thursday, December 13, 2001 | By: DennisIE is getting more patches than a child's Levis. This time Microsoft fixes 3 vulnerabilities in one. I especially like this statement.
" In order for the attacker to successfully attack the user via this vulnerability, she would need to craft a specially formed web page and host the malicious executable on a site that is accessible to the victim, either on the Internet or on their local network."
All of a sudden Internet attackers are women.

Intel i845D Chipset Review @ x-bit labs
Published: Thursday, December 13, 2001 | By: DennisThere is some good stuff on how Intel plans to use the i845D chipset along with some benchmarks and comparisons across the P4 offerings. Something that I had not realized was how short the lifespan of this chipset will be. It really makes the move to a P4 a tough one.

Xeon vs. Athlon
Published: Thursday, December 13, 2001 | By: DennisIt is an age-old tale of Good vs. Good with one being slightly better than the other. It would seem the faster clock on the Xeon still performs slightly less than the slower Athlon XP on the game side of things. Though much to my surprise some of the tests put the single Xeon as the faster solution.

MSI i845D Board Review @ ViaHardware
Published: Wednesday, December 12, 2001 | By: DennisViaHardware has posted a preview of this MSI motherboard explaining the features and layout of their latest motherboard. I would guess that is all they are allowed to post considering that the official release of the i845D is still a few days off. What is really strange is that a Via website is one of the first ones to post a preview of an up and coming Intel chipset.
