Dualies abound
Published: Thursday, January 25, 2001 | By: DennisEveryone is going to think I am from a far away land with all of the links to .jp and .tw sites, I assure you that I am not. Any event this site contains some very interesting photos on what's to come in the world of hardware. Check out the Dual Athlon from Tyan. Obviously this board is meant for a rackmount applications but who knows a little tweak here a twist there.

Iwill Dual PIII DDR motherboard
Published: Sunday, January 21, 2001 | By: DennisWith all the hype behind DDR here is a positive review for the use of DDR memory. Compare this review to the FWD-P3C4XD review that we did. They used the same processors, and the same version of SiSoft Sandra. You can see quite a little gain over even the Intel chipset.
One thing is for sure, the Via 133A chipset isn't really that good. -
DDR: The Disappointment?
Published: Saturday, January 20, 2001 | By: DennisViahardware posted an article on DDR and how it isn't really the greatest memory platform when used on a motherboard. You can see by the Freeway FWD-P3C4XD review that when the FSB is over clocked to 160Mhz the memory performance was equal to that of a Dual 1Ghz Pentium on a i840 board without using DDR memory. Until processor mfg. Increase the default FSB I do not believe we will see any huge gains in memory performance between SDRAM and DDR.
Now DDR on video cards, that is a different story. Quake3 in high res. is the only way to frag. -

Allaire and Macromedia to Merge
Published: Wednesday, January 17, 2001 | By: DennisAllaire the people that brought us HomeSite and Cold Fusion has announced that it is merging with Macromedia. Macromedia develops some great web specific products like Flash, Dreamweaver, and Shockwave.
Here is a clip
Under the terms of the definitive merger agreement unanimously approved by each company's board of directors, Macromedia will acquire Allaire. Rob Burgess, chairman and CEO of Macromedia, will continue as chairman and CEO of the combined company, which will retain the Macromedia name. Jeremy Allaire, CTO of Allaire, will be the CTO of Macromedia, reporting to Kevin Lynch, president of Macromedia products.
When it comes to web development tools I've used them both, HomeSite for programming, and Dreamweaver for layout and editing. The merger should be a good one. Now if they could just improve the Dreamweaver GUI everything will be great. -
VP6 vs. Epox (again!)
Published: Monday, January 15, 2001 | By: DennisThe guys as 2cpu have finally gotten their hands on a VP6 to review. Plus, they pit it up against the Dual Epox board. We here have already done such a review, though I will admit that we didn't cover as many aspects as 2cpu. I suppose they do need to make up for lost time. Check out ours here and then see what 2cpu has to offer.
These are the last of a generation. -

Banners at Ninjalane
Published: Thursday, January 11, 2001 | By: DennisWell I have finally found a good deal on a couple banners for this site. Ninjalane was never really designed with banner ads in mind so you might see some layout changes in the future.
