  • Creative Geforce2MX DDR

Published: Monday, February 5, 2001 | By: Dennis

When news of this card was released I thought it was going to be one of the better versions of the GF2MX out there. It would appear that even though the card is armed with DDR memory, the 64-bit memory bus tends to hinder what performance there was to gain. They must have learned from Matrox.

Videocarddrivers.com (long URL) has posted a refresh rate fix for us Nvidia owners. By default many games will reset the monitor refresh rate to 60Hz, this isn't really that bad unless you are accustomed to having your desktop refresh rate set to 100Hz like me.

Finally a high-end graphics chip has made it into the laptop market. Rumor had it that the MX chip was a prototype design for laptops that never made it to the market. Though the time and research has paid off. "GeForce2 Go" is the power behind this new video chip for laptops; I can't wait to see it in person.

I like looking at these engineering sample reviews. They show the potentional, and downfalls of a new product. It also gives us, the consumer, a chance to decide if we need to start saving up for a new motherboard or not.

  • LAN Parties and Dates

Published: Sunday, January 28, 2001 | By: Dennis

I think some common sense would play into this situation. Though ask yourself would you take a date, girlfriend, and wife to a LAN party with all of your buds? I think if you do at least provide her with a computer.

    I especially like J.C. Armack's response.

Obviously this board is meant for a rackmount applications but who knows a little tweak here a twist there.
