After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

Day 3 - Prep for Paint

When painting bare metal and plastic always start with some sort of primer undercoat to ensure that your color coat sticks to the surface and glosses up like it should. I typically do light sanding with fine grit sandpaper and water between primer coats to remove any high spots. Once I'm happy with the results the color can be applied.

It should also be noted that not all primers are the same; some color coats will actually dissolve primer and give you a rotten finish especially on plastic so do a compatibility test beforehand.
I did color on Day 3 but didn't happen to snap any progress shots. The base color is a dark metallic green. I used a lighter green on the front bezel that is then dusted it with the darker metallic color. The effect is stunning though does not photograph well.
