After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

GlacialTech Igloo 4310 Heatsink Review

Introduction
I recently had the honor of meeting the CTO of GlacialTech while I was at Comdex this last
year and listened attentively while he spoke of GlacialTech's heatsink offering for the Pentium 4. One of the
things that caught our ear was how quiet the heatsinks where in comparison to their cooling performance. Intrigued
by this I offered to do a review of their latest product, the Igloo 4310.
This heatsink is actually an upgrade to their popular Igloo 4300 and is available in two
configurations, regular and pro. The difference being that the pro version comes with a 4500rpm 35db fan.
The Igloo 4310, as with other GlacialTech heatsinks, comes with a very easy to use metal
clipping system that can be installed literally with one hand. The 3000rpm fan, pictured here, is screwed
directly into the metal plate and could easily be upgraded if the opportunity presented itself.
The Igloo 4310 is of the thin fin variety and has a rather thick aluminum base
and is milled to give a perfectly flat mounting surface. Unlike other heatsinks that we have used
this one has no copper inserts and comes with pre-applied thermal paste.
