Sandra is a software collection of synthetic benchmarks that will give us a basic idea as to what a system is capable of. It should be noted that SiSoft numbers change depending on what version you have installed; these were recorded using Sandra Professional Business Version 2010.1.16.11
Synthetic Conclusion
Synthetic performance never really tells the entire story but is a good benchmark of what the system "could" do under the right conditions.
The scores here are typical of the Core i7 920 and are what we had expected to see. Processor and Multimedia performance is slightly higher on the Gigabyte system due to the newer version of SiSoft Sandra being used in this review. You many notice that memory performance is extremely high on the EVGA system, looking back it seemed that the XMP profile was enabled during that review which would explain the higher bandwidth numbers.
When XMP is enabled on the GA-X58A-UD3R the system is actually reconfigured to accommodate a higher memory clock, without making the processor physically run faster. (Higher BCLK with a lower CPU Multiplier)
