After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.
Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

There has been a lot of talk around VIA's P4 chipset offering and it all started with the P4X266. The
P4X266 was a modest yet strong performer supported the 400MHz Pentium 4 and DDR 200/266 though with pending legal trouble on
the horizon mainboard manufactures failed to jump on the VIA bandwagon. A few months later VIA
announced a DDR333 version of the same chipset that would include support for things like AGP 8x, USB 2.0, and Pentium 4B
processor just to name a few. This chipset never really made it to the market due to problems with their
AGP 8x implementation so in an attempt to save the chipset release VIA fixed the bugs, added some enhancements, and later re-released
the chipset under a new name the P4X400.
This diagram shows what features are included in what section of the chipset. Whitepapers for both the P4X400
and P4X333 can be found on VIA's website.
