After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Performance - Datamarck

Datamarck is also a free and widely available test and we will repeat the way we showed the HDTune section with the single drive tests first followed by the RAID tests. All of the tests were run three times and the top score used in all tests shown. Results can vary widely with these applications, especially on the SSD side with the Raptors keeping basically the same score throughout.
As with the previous test the Datamarck results came in about 3x the speed of the Raptor. We had anticipated big results from the RAID 0 runs so let's move on to those now.
Ok we have discovered a very strange result here.  If you compare the RAID 0 SSD score to the single above you will notice the SSD performance actually drops. We cannot explain this except to say it was repeatable and could be related to the SATA controller timings or just how the benchmark was written.
