After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.
Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

Included Goodies and Installation
Included with every TS-409 Pro Turbo NAS is everything you see here. Power pack, complete with anti kick connector, Installation manual, software CD, and a screw pack
The CD contains quite a bit of stuff including a handy backup program that copies file marked for backup directly to the NAS on a scheduled basis.

Installation
Installation is actually very easy.
The first step was to install our hard drives, in this case 3 36GB Raptor drives. After that the TS-409 Pro was placed on our Gigabit network here in the Ninjalane Labs and powered on. The rest f the setup is preformed thru the Qnap Finder software found on the software CD.

As the photos show we have a variety of RAID levels to choose from, including JBOD, RAID-0, RAID-1, and RAID-5. We choose RAID-5 as it’s the coolest.
During the installation process we are prompted for various account and network information, when complete the system reboots and magically is available for web and network requests.
