After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    PainKiller Demo

Painkiller is an nVidia-supported game that is not only amazing to look at but puts a lot of emphasis on sound effects and sound positioning. Game physics are amazing and directly translate into what you would expect to happen. For instance if you hit a zombie in the head with your stake gun they will spin and fall backwards though if you hit them in the leg a different reaction takes place.
For the longest time I have never been convinced that 7.1 channel sound belongs on the desktop, after playing Painkiller my position on the subject has changed dramatically.
