After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Core i7 Dual Channel vs Triple Channel Memory Test

Conclusion
The purpose of this article is a simple investigation into the question of "Does triple channel memory show a benefit?". This is really a loaded question; we feel that triple channel showed its muscle when given a testing scenario that allowed it to stretch its legs. You may wonder if the difference is obvious in daily usage.
Unfortunately the real world doesn't really give you score but a perception.
The results we achieved on these tests were mixed however you can easily conclude that there is a difference but not so much that you will notice right away. SiSoft Sandra really painted a more accurate picture in terms of performance and what we had expected to see. On the other hand our Everest Ultimate scores showed virtually no change between dual channel and triple channel configurations. This could be the way the tests are structured and did not lend themselves well triple channel configurations, similar to how single threaded applications don't show a boost with a quad core.
We left this testing session with the opinion that the triple channel configuration is a definite plus for the consumer and happens to be very logical progression in the ever increasing performance of memory. We also got a glimpse into how far the technology has come when compared to an older DDR2 system.
