Matrox Parhelia Review @ Beyond3D
Published: Monday, December 2, 2002 | By: DennisMatrox, now there is a name you don't hear every day though I'd imagine it is spoken quite often in some markets.
"Naturally, where Matrox scores big is their usual haunt, which is of their display output. The 2D quality is very good on Parhelia, among the best I've personally seen. Also, if multi-monitor support is something that's important for you then Matrox has both the most flexibility in the display output options and exceptionally good multi-monitor configurations and software tools."
I have always been a fan of the Matrox display quality but I play games a little to often to put one of their cards in my system full time, regardless I would still buy one.
Of course after I get a GeForceFX -
Gigabyte GA-8INXP Review @ HardwareZone
Published: Monday, December 2, 2002 | By: DennisHere is another look into funky colored, i7205 enabled board from Gigabyte. Overall the HardwareZone guys seem to like it.
"However, the only gripe we had with the board is that it is a little too heavy on the storage side as it comes with support for up to 10 ATA devices. We would have preferred a little bit more balance and a FireWire controller would have been more appropriate."
Firewire would be a nice addition but only if you are a mac lova! -
Lian Li PC-9300 Aluminum Review @ Anandtech

ABIT NF7-S nForce2 Motherboard @ Hexus
Published: Monday, December 2, 2002 | By: DennisThere was a lot of hype around the original nForce chipset release and after it was all said and done the release barely made a wave. Now with the pending release of the newly upgraded nForce2 (creative name huh?) I think we might have something to look forward to.
"Why have I chosen dual-channel DDR266 over dual-channel DDR333 at 133FSB ?. The answer lies in the fact that we actually lose performance by running dual-channel DDR333 at 133FSB. The asynchronous memory speed provides more bandwidth than dual-channel DDR266, but latency is increased by having to account for the asynchronous memory and CPU FSB clocks. "
I wonder if the Intel solutions will have similar problems. -

Happy Thanksgiving
Published: Wednesday, November 27, 2002 | By: DennisWell everyone I am just about off for my Thanksgiving vacation. The place that I'm traveling to may or may not have internet access (most likely dependant on if I want to fix their computers or not
) so there may or may not be news this weekend.
Have a great turkey day. -

Macs, Adobe, and IE - Who Owns the Bug??
Published: Wednesday, November 27, 2002 | By: DennisOur resident Mac expert Talon sent this in and it looks to be a pretty serious yet totally funny little bug. Here is what you need to do.
Go to the site listed below using your favorite IE browser (on the windows platform). You will notice that the page doesn't completely load and a few of the images are gone.
Next using the same browser go to any other site on the net, you will notice that no images are being loaded.
The problem resides around IE freaking out about XML data that is inserted into the .jpg file when it is saved from certain Adobe products on the OSX platform. It is only temporary, just close and restart your browser.
Mozilla based browsers are unaffected.
