After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.
Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

Case Extras
The Samurai is a tool less case, Thumbscrews hold the side panels in place while a series of spring loaded thumb locks are used to hold the drives in place. They are very easy to use though don't really provide any speed advantage over screws.
Most modern cases come with some sort of hard drive rack located under the external 3.5 bays. While this is a convenient location for hard drives it is also an excellent place to put watercooling supplies, (ie. Pump, radiator, res, etc..) so having the rack removable just makes installation easier, unfortunately they are all riveted in place.
From a modding standpoint the position of the hdd rack does limit what you can do in terms of cooling especially since once a drive is installed it's right up against the side panel. This doesn't leave much room for extra fans but given the bodywork an extra fan might not be the proper solution.
The Raidmax Samurai comes with a small box of goodies including the standard power cord, extra screws and replacement parts. The expansion cover is designed to allow cables to pass thru and comes in handy if you ever decide to hook up the front audio jacks.
