After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Eumax B605-02 Heatsink

Conclusion
Given the benchmark numbers you might ask yourself who does this cooler appear to be built for?
Mild overclocking can be attained with the B605 but most overclockers and hardware enthusiasts will agree that the poor C/W rating and 70x70x15 fan are not good choices for top of the line equipment.
Workstation techs will like how quiet this heatsink is which is important if you are trying to keep the office from sounding like a server room. The lower profile also makes the cooler a good candidate for larger rack mounted server farm machines, but might also be pushing the limits.
The average user that just wants to surf the web, play some Diablo and/or download pr0n will like heatsink very much. It is lightweight so there is no fear of CPU core cracking during those frequent computer moves. Fan noise is at a minimum so you won't be keeping the neighbors up, and it's not really that expensive. iocombo.com has them in stock for less than 14 dollars (as of this writing)
During this review I was told that Eumax technical support is gearing up to release this heatsink with an even quieter variable speed fan for those that really need it quiet to think. This fan is said to spin at 3200rpm max and would in turn lower the heatsink rating from 2800+ to 2600+, something to keep in mind for those lower speed systems.
