After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Abit KT7E Motherboard Review

Really what more is there to say. This board performs quite well under load and despite it not
having the same features as its bigger brothers it holds its own. I'm actually quite partial to boards like this because you
have so much freedom in what you can do. If you want IDE Raid, simply add a card. Onboard sound usually suxX0rs
so why not just leave it off the board and save us the trouble of disabling it later, with the KT7e there is no need to worry. Strange thing
is the Via spec for this chipset even calls for onboard sound but Abit left it off.
The KT7e does support a wide variety of overclocking options but the since this chipset only supports 100MHz chips
the amount of overclocking is really limited. The chip I used on this board would run 1170 stable on the Freeway A7KA though wouldn't even
come close on the KT7e. I was able to get up to 1050 without to many problems but any higher than that would cause data corruption from the HDD.
Even though this board would not appear not to fit the Ninjalane profile, in a way it does. The bare motherboards that where common in the past are becoming rare in todays future. It won't be too long before these boards will be gone and for some that cannot come soon enough. Anyevent I'm still a fan of this board if anything its the color that stands out. The blue is something other than the typical Abit yellow and with the right cards would look nice in just about any modded case.
