After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Benchmarks - Overclocked

It is time to look at the overclocking part of our review. We are putting the stock and the overclocked systems against each other to see how much better a system can be with a few minor tweaks. Our Q6600 isn’t very happy past 3.2GHz. So we just cranked down the multiplier to 7 and cranked up the FSB to 435MHz to increase the memory clock. There is a still lot of room for improvement. The downside is this processor just cannot pull it off.

The DK X48 handled the clocking like champ.  Given the right processor the overclocking limit would have been much higher. Still whenever pushing a Quad Core with FSB is a huge test in itself and this board performed wonderfully
As with all of our reviews we pit the default speed system against the overclocked one in a head to head byte match. The results of this can be seen below.

    Overclocking Conclusion
This small overclock does show some big moves. Looking at the synthetic benchmark shows some real improvement towards the awesome side. This is what we are looking for. Then looking at the UT3 results is icing on the cake of true performance boost in the real world. So even with a small overclock the board just jumps to some serious performance action.
