After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.
Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

Board Layout and Features Cont.
On the I/O panel you find the legacy PS/2 ports for keyboard and mouse, six USB ports, and the outputs for the 6-channel onboard sound including optical. The little red jumper all by its lonesome is for resetting the CMOS.I think this feature should be mandatory on all enthusiasts motherboards since reaching for the jumper in a small case and multiple expansion cards can require almost inhuman skills to reach. The single Gigabit LAN port is a surprise but I can live with only having one. However some people may see this as a shortcoming since (2) seems to be the current standard.
The board also boasts 3 fan headers 1 each near the CPU, north and southbridge chips. You also get headers for a COM port and IrDA. I wasn't shocked by the lack of Firewire support but I am disappointed since it limits your choices for HTPC connectivity where firewire would be used frequently to input from video cameras and similar devices that rely on the Firewire interface.
The CMOS battery has been placed standing up on end in order to save some space, interestingly enough with all this cramming DFI was still able to save the very old floppy drive connector, it’s located under the last PCI slot so be prepared to break out the longest floppy cable you have.
