After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.
Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

Board Features and Layout Cont.
Onboard SerialATA and SerialATA RAID is made possible with a Promise RAID controller. The chip supports up to 2 SerialATA drives and RAID levels 0, 1, and 1+0 (with the use of the Parallel ATA connector located above). To operate a single SerialATA drive on this controller you simply need to setup a single drive RAID 0 (stripe) and reboot. The drive will be detected as part of a RAID array with no other adverse effects.
Onboard Parallel ATA connections are located towards the top of the board next to the main power connector.
M.O.M. or (Mainboard Operation Monitor) functionality is contained in the I/O chip shown here with a fancy hologram sticker. Hardware information is accessible via the BIOS or in Windows with the included Soltek Hardware monitoring software.
Nothing special about the ATX connector, since the SL-K8AV-R doesn't come with onboard LAN the board should install into any standard ATX case without any modifications.
Included documentation and cables are enough for any basic installation, note the color matched and rounded ParallelATA cable.
