In terms of size the Silent Pro Gold 1200W is the same size as a Corsair HX850 which is slightly larger than a standard PSU. The unit is not so big that you will have trouble installing it into the majority of chassis on the market.
This is a typical modular power supply with several power leads being hardwired to the PSU. Overclockers and power Zealots prefer the hardwired approach since it removes an unnecessary connection that could otherwise effect power delivery. The same argument can be made for any electrical connection; the points where connections are made tend to be trouble spots in power transmission. The less of these you have the cleaner your connections will be.
Each power supply comes with a handy storage bag, to store all of your extra modular plugs and a handy installation manual. The manual is rather limited but does cover basic installation, the various connections, and power specifications.

The Silent Pro Gold 1200W is a single rail unit with a total RMS power output of 1200W; 1176W comes over the 12v rail alone and is what powers the majority of your system components. The rest of the power is distributed across the 3.3v and 5v rails
As the specifications indicated the peak output of this PSU is 1440W, however at that kind of load you will be well beyond the 90% point for power efficiency. This 90% point is important since when you venture beyond this the PSU will begin to generate excess heat and overall power stability can be affected.
