After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

    Conclusion

Thermaltake has built a strong following with their Toughpower series and has carried that success over to their other lines.  The Evo Blue is designed to add some flair to an otherwise boring computer component and having been designed by Thermaltake you can expect many of the Toughpower features to be passed down.  Features like heavy gauge modular wiring, labels to identify each power module and 5year warranty to give you peace of mind when making the purchase.

For those of you concerned about the lighted fan rest assured the additional bling is subtle but with a few case mods can really dress things up.
During our performance tests the 140mm fan was barely audible even when loaded down with a Core I7 920 @4.2Ghz with Crossfired 5770's. We measured the voltage rails with ordinary Digital Multimeter and showed essentially no fluctuation in voltage whether loaded or idle. This kind of testing isn't conclusive of a real world load test but does give some indication of a stable power platform.

Overall the Evo Blue 650 watt PSU should be an excellent match for any mid range system regardless of purpose and also afford you the ability to expand your system as your needs change..

And now the ever popular list of good things and bad things. happy smile
    Good Things
    Modular cabling is well done.
Plenty of power for 90% of the market.
    Lighting with several nice options.
Well executed accesories such as the bag for cables and the tiebacks.
    5 Year Warranty.
    Bad Things
Too much distance between both SATA and Molex plugs.
Some small amounts of hot melt Glue visible on heatshrink tubes.
    Not 80+ certified.
Cabling is very heavy gauge (which is good) but hard to hide.
