After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.
Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com
Raidmax X-1 Case Review

Case Features pt.1
The prominent feature on this case is the hinged door, while the door is made from high impact plastic one side is covered with a brushed aluminum plate. Not exactly a commanding answer to the typical aluminum/steel hybrid cases but does provide a little more functionality than if the entire case was made from aluminum.
The aluminum panel does wrap around the case but only makes contact along the front edges; the placement does little in terms of functionally but does a very good job at being what it is, a bit of artistic expression.
Once the door is open we can get a better look at how air is supposed to enter this case, the vents shown in the photo are functional and cover a perforated opening for a 92/120mm fan. The perforation found on the door opens up behind the aluminum panel to allow fresh air to pass thru.
Another unique feature found on the Raidmax X-1 is a little something we have been doing for years and consists of a fan sized vent along the back side of the case. While this vent is not functional in terms of active cooling it does provide a little fresh air around the HDD rack.
