After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.
Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

Case Features pt.2
A feature that has been absent from many cases since the mid to late 90's is a digital display but this one does more than just tell you how fast you think your processor is. Display features include case temp via thermal probe, fan monitor including a fan alarm that will trigger in the event of a fan failure, HDD activity, and power on light. The primary power button is located below this display however you will need to open the door to find the reset switch.
Cooling is always important and as we discovered with the Raidmax Samuari the X-1 features spots for up to 2 120mm fans front and rear. The case somes with a single 120mm fan installed in the back and a single 80mm LED fan installed in the side panel.
While I have been known to install fans in windows before I was never a huge fan of the practice. For one whenever you wish to remove the panel you also have to disconnect the fan power. Also, while this may sound strange, when you blow air on a moving fan you actually hurt cooling performance, the same is true if you force air across a video card. While it would seem you are doing good in actuallity the turbulence tends to change the static pressure around the cooling fan and reduces overall pressure. A quick fix in this instance would be to reverse the LED fan to blow out instead of in.
