Conclusion
Operating a Network Attached Storage device (NAS) is not a difficult thing, in fact in many cases it’s a perfect server replacement and this product from QNAP makes the whole process that much easier.
Still there are a few things that have been a little bit of a pain. There is an option that allows you to enable or disable write cache to make read and writes faster on the network. This feature does work quite well after having been tested at a LAN Party with 8 to 12 people accessing the QNAP TS-209 Pro II Turbo NAS all at the same time. However if you do enable this option you need to disable some of the included software in order to get it to work. In the big picture it really depends on how you plan to use your NAS unit.

After using the QNAP TS-209 Pro II Turbo NAS for a good several weeks I can easily say that my other NAS device has been put away for good. The speed controlled fans do a great job at keeping the noise down. The QNAP TS-209 Pro II Turbo NAS will also go into power saving mode after extended periods of inactivity, This not only saves power but reduces normal wear and tear on your equipment.
In terms of use anybody with some tech savvy will love this machine. The applications alone are just incredible, throw in RAID support and gigabit network access and you have a fully featured network server at a fraction of the cost. QNAP has created a jack of all trades product that just wins in spades and It will be hard for me to ever look at another branded NAS ever again
