After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.
Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

Left 4 Dead 2
With flesh eating zombies coming after you in endless waves Left 4 Dead 2 does push your hardware beyond what is seen in most games. The storyline is simple; you and 3 survivors are dropped into the middle of a zombie apocalypse and must find safety among the hordes of dead.
Left 4 Dead 2 is based on DirectX 9 technology and plays well on a variety of hardware.

All of the settings were turned up to the highest with 8x Anti-Aliasing and 16x Anotropic filtering for all of the resolutions.
Left 4 Dead 2 is a very forgiving game based on an older game engine and plays quite well on everything, but to play the game at the highest settings is just a treat. The Sapphire Radeon HD5870 pulls in a whooping 20FPS over the other single chip GPU card the GTX285. However the Radeon HD4870X2 still walks away with a small win over the HD5870.
Also take note of the 1680x1050 180FPS cap. You'll see this happen in the Overclocked section as well.
