After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain. I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain. If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Card Layout and Features
Here we have the Sapphire Radeon HD5870, The HD5870 is currently one of the fastest single chip graphics cards on the market today that also fully supports DirectX 11.
The Sapphire Radeon HD5870 is an extremely long card that easily matches the size of the last big Sapphire card, the Radeon HD4870X2.
The backside of the Sapphire Radeon HD5870 has a black metal plate that covers the entire PCB. Much like a memory heat spreader this cover allows for easy handling of the card without shorting out any sensitive components, or simply damaging them with misplaced fingers.
The only exposed item found on the back of the video card is the familiar heatsink retaining plate. Removal of this item is not unlike any other ATI product.
Display connections are typical for a desktop application and feature 2x Dual-Link DVI, HDMI and a single DisplayPort.

Across the top of the card you will find 2 CrossFire bridges connections allowing you to connect up to four Radeon video cards at once. The actual number of cards will be limited to available expansion slots on your motherboard and card slots in a case.
